Re-Think Athens: The city of Athens as it should be
The European Architectural Competition | Re-think Athens may have already come to an end, but, the vision that it conveys will be materialised in the years to come.
It is by the end of 2015 that Athens City Center will have transformed to an area with green spaces and, above all, a clean façade…becoming a city center for people as any metropolitan city ought to be.
The Competition was won by the Dutch firm OKRA LANDSCHAPSARCHITECTEN BV, and if you would like to have a closer and more detailed look of their proposal for the whole project, but also, at the submitted proposals of other participants, you can visit the exhibition Re Think Athens which is hosted at the Onassis Cultural Centre.
Up to the 10th of March and at the exhibition space of the OCC, you will be able to view the designs and the final representations / illustrations that were submitted to the Architectural Competition and "get" the message it conveys loud and clear:
Athens was designated to be a great European capital whose center would retain its human scale.
The project visualizes the transformation of the center of Athens and involves Amalias Avenue, Panepistimiou street, Dikeossinis square, Omonoia square, Patission street, the Archaeological Museum of Athens and Egyptou square. It is planned to be completed by 2016.
