We love Naxos island and adore its beaches
We acquired the best advice by the locals, we looked them up on the island’s map and we visited them one by one in order to present them to you in detail. So…how about touring the beaches of Νaxos?
Beach of Aghia Anna
Definitely one of the most famous beaches on Νaxos island and a natural continuation of an equally known beach named Aghios Prokopios. Characterized by its fine golden sand, its plethora of cheddar trees and its crystal clear waters, it becomes a shady paradise for swimmers who wish to stay at the beach all day long. Approach any of its beach bars and combine your swimming sessions with refreshing cocktails.
Beach of Άghios Prokopios
The most famous beach in Greece is located at 5 Km from the main town of Naxos island at a tranquil location protected from the Cycladic winds. It has white, fine sand and stretches along 1.5 Km. A very well organized beach offering visitors with ample space for sunbathing but also for a variety of water sports.
Beach of Plaka
Next to the beaches of Aghia Anna and Aghios Prokopios, Plaka is also very enchanting with its white, fine sand arranged in sand dunes thus creating a magic scenery. Right next to the shore, one may find numerous tavernas and rooms to let with beautiful sea views. It is one of the top ranked beaches of the island and when you visit it you will realize upon arrival as to precisely why!
Beach of Άghios Georgios
Only a three minute drive from the main town of Νaxos island heading south, we come across the beach of Aghios Georgios which is a sandy one too attracting people who prefer it for its relatively shallow waters and the fact that it is protected from the strong Cycladic winds. An ideal choice for families with small children but also for a plethora of water sports.
Beach of Αgiassos
Yet another sandy beach offering a tranquil setting with turquoise waters where you can peacefully enjoy your swim away from the noise and the crowdedness of other more popular beaches.
Beach of Psili Ammos
Heading towards the eastern side of Νaxos island you will discover Psili Ammos (meaning fine sand in English) between the small port of Moutsouna and Panormos beach. Cheddar trees offer their valuable shade and sand dunes make the setting absolutely superb, almost tropical.
Beach of Aliko
20 km from the main town of Naxos island and heading southwest, we come across a small but exotic beach boasting cheddar trees. Well protected from the winds, it is easily approachable and offers many tavernas for the necessary feast after a long day of swimming and sunbathing.
Beach of Moutsouna
A natural small port at the far tip of the island and at 38 Km away from the main town. Moutsouna used to be an area producing emery and while visiting the site you will be able to see the funicular of the emery mines of Νaxos island which figures among the top industrial monuments in Greece.
Beach of Μikri Vigla
It presents two beaches in one with glorious sand and separated with a large rock in the middle. Ideal for kitesurfing and windsurfing due to the windy setting.
Beach of Pirgaki
Pirgaki in Greek stands for small tower and the beach takes its name after the hill with a small observatory tower at its top, built in the past for observing the approach of pirates. It is certainly a dreamy location at the southern coast of Naxos, boasting a very long sandy beach shaded by cheddar trees. One of the less crowded beaches at your disposal, which will certainly reward your effort to visit it via its unsurpassable beauty.
Beach of Κastraki
The longest beach on Naxos stretching over 3 Km. and boasting fine sand and turquoise blue waters. Ideal for a secluded swim, ounces of relaxation and fishing. Due to its length it offers visitors with various entrances. A good idea is to walk along Kastraki beach from one end to the other or visit it for a night swim and a beach party with fires and plenty of drinks under the moonlight.
