A visit to Elati village and Pertouli Ski Center

A visit to Elati village and Pertouli Ski Center

Literally drenched in pines and amphitheatrically built at an altitude of 950 meters, the village of Elati is one of the most beautiful mountainous settlements of the county of Trikala. Located in the southern part of the Pindos mountain range and up on the slopes of Mount Koziakas opposite the rocks of Meteora, Elati village is among the most popular destinations for nature lovers but also for skiers and snowboarders due to its close proximity to Pertouli Ski Center (8.5 km). Only 32 km will suffice to take you to this green paradise from the capital town of the county which is Trikala.

On your way to Elati village you will come across numerous significant monasteries which you could visit, such as those of Porta Panagia and Ayios Vissarionas. Within the village, the local producers set up their little market and promote the delicacies of their land. You will find many cozy coffee shops for a hot beverage and tavernas serving top quality grilled meats. The area is appreciated for countless and enjoyable activities in nature, ranging from hiking in the lush forest to horse riding, as well as, from spending time at Pertouli Ski Center to walking and spotting old mansions and traditional marble fountain taps worthy of admiration.

Extra tip: The most beautiful spot in the area at large is the so-called Red Rock which is found just above Elati and offers stunning views. Its name derives from its geological color and the setting is equally and highly appreciated by the fans of climbing too.

Pertouli Ski Center

The ski resort has been operating since 1985 and has undoubtedly boosted the levels of tourism of the wider area. It consists of three distinct runs (red, blue and green) and boasts 1 aerial lift with double seat, 1 sliding with one seat, 2 draglifts and 1 baby lift. The red run has a length of 1.500 meters, the blue one counts 400 meters and the green is 80 meters in length.

During the winter months the resort organizes night skiing events which are really worthy to experience. Unfortunately, Pertouli Ski Center has not yet opened its slopes to the public for the season due to the mild weather conditions so far.

Extra tip: If you wish to receive information concerning the opening of the resort simply text the sms “Snow PER” and send at 54344.
