The last...brushstroke for the National Gallery of Athens
The National Gallery of Athens is going to be closing its doors to the public for the next few years.
The reason for its closure is none other than for expanding purposes of the existing building in order to acquire larger spaces for exhibitions, a new amphitheatre for presentations and a bar-restaurant.
Hence, this vault of contemporary Greek art invites everyone who hasn’t already visited it up to now, to come and admire the exquisite pieces of art it has been hosting, from close up. The National Gallery has been operating for the past 37 years, exhibiting the work of Greek artists and hosting foreign artists on a regular basis. The last day of operation is Monday the 4th of March.
The gallery Manager, Mrs. Marina Labraki – Plaka will be giving a tour herself of the artworks of the 20th century hosted currently, to all the visitors who will choose to go on Saturday the 2nd of March.
