Acropolis Museum celebrates the Greek National Day of March 25th
On the 25th of March, Acropolis Museum invites you for a visit with free entrance to all premises and for all visitors - between 9 in the morning and 5 in the afternoon - for the celebrations of the Greek National Day.
The special cleaning project of the Caryatids with the use of modern technology laser beam continues and yet another Caryatid is now ready to be presented to the publics visiting the Acropolis Museum. A group of archaeologists - conservators will also be presenting their research for the unique collection of archaic statues which still maintain their initial colors to a fuller or lesser extent. Theme games concerning archaeology, plus a "traditional meal" at the restaurant, will further highlight the events for the National Day celebrations. Additionally, don’t miss the music event addressing the theme of love in Greek music of the 20th century.

Workshop about ancient technology
The group of Conservators of the Museum will demonstrate their work in front of visitors by coloring Ippea’s sandal. Sandals constituted one of the three types of shoe detected on archaic statues. The workshop will commence at 11 am and visitors interested can meet outside the Information Bureau of the Museum.
Workshop about the laser technology used by Museum Conservators
The cleaning process of Caryatid D through laser beam technology is now complete and visitors will have the opportunity to discuss with the Museum Conservators about the historical significance of the whole project. The workshop will commence at 12 noon and visitors who would like to participate should gather at the Caryatids Foyer on the 1st floor.
“The significance of the theme of love in Greek music of the 20th century”.
The Museum will present the work of artists dedicated to the theme of love, through the musics of Markos Vamvakaris, Manolis Chiotis, Iosif Ritsiardis, Yiorgos Mitsakis, Apostolos Kaldaras and others, with vocalist – pianist Labrini Yioti and singer – bouzouki player Yiorgos Tsibouxis. The event is scheduled for 12:30 pm at the Parthenon Foyer on the 3rd floor.
Gallery talks on “Archaic Colors”
The Archaeologists – Conservators of the Museum will present to visitors their research on the unique collection of ancient statues which still conserve their colors to a greater or lesser extent and will address their importance, as well as, the perception of the aesthetics of colors during the archaic era. The gallery talk is planned to begin at 3:30 pm and those of you who would like to participate, you can meet in front of the Information Bureau.

Families may be interested in buying thematic archaeological games from the Museum store, which serve as creative guides to the Museum’s collections and they may also get their free family backpack.
