Today - the 18th of April - has been declared as the World Day of Monuments by both UNESCO and the International Council of Monuments and Sites and aims at an increase of the care manifested by the public towards the protection of cultural heritage.

In the framework of the celebrations, today –Thursday the 18th of April – admission is without charge to all Museums and Archaeological Sites to one and all, across Greece.

This year’s theme is “The Heritage of Education” and focuses to those monuments that have been related to education through the centuries.

In this category, we include monuments such as libraries, universities, schools, academies, monasteries and other open spaces which constitute significant elements of our cultural heritage due to their immense historical and artistic value, but also due to their social and ethical contribution in the educational sector.

Search for an archaeological site closest to you and take this opportunity to explore the whole settlement in which they are located. We wish you a very pleasant and educational walk!
