Gastronomy festival with Cretan tastes
The most famous cuisine of the Mediterranean basin with the richest history and characterized by the deepest traditions, is certainly that of the island of Crete. The 3-day festival between the 20th and 22nd of September in Sitia – county of Lassithi will initiate us to the secrets of the Cretan cuisine and will inspire us to use more local and fresh ingredients in our cooking. The festival is titled: "Local Products: Nutritional and Therapeutic Properties" and will also present to the lucky attendees the marvels of the foods and products sourced in other associated areas, such as the Lassithi plateau, Chios island and the region of Mount Troodos in Cyprus.
Significant gastronomy specialists will join the festival, such as Dina Nikolaou, Alexandros Papandreou and Yiannis Baxevanis in order to share their knowledge and tricks of the trade with the audience and to create superb dishes based on Cretan products. Contemporary cuisine meets Crete and yields to an unprecedented palatable result. The young guests at the festival will have the opportunity to test their skills in the culinary arts alongside Yiannis Baxevanis whose main aim will be to prove to them that taste simply depends on the quality of the ingredients and of course, on the local flavors.
The festival will be enriched by other interesting events: workshop on the effective promotion of local products, visits to production and packaging plants, cultural events, traditional music and dancing, photography and painting exhibitions, interactive musical and theatrical games for the young attendees and many more.
