Santorini island | IMIC 2013 on "Tourism & Gastronomy: Moving forward"
This year's ''IMIC 2013 - Tourism & Gastronomy: Moving Forward'' Conference will be held in Santorini, starting tomorrow October 17 and with a duration of 2 days. The Year 2013 is ''The Year of Gastronomy'' for the island and the involvement of Eric Wolf as the key speaker at the conference is, in fact, a great success since he is the head of the World Food Travel Association and considered a connoisseur of issues concerning culinary tourism.
IMIC (International Meetings Industry Conference) has always been held in Athens but this year a destination outside of Attica was selected and in particular the convention center ''Petros M. Nomikos'' on the island of Santorini in the region of the Cyclades. The conference also incorporates an intensive seminar based on the development of culinary tourism, titled ''Culinary Tourism Bootcamp'' which will be held on the second day of the conference and will be addressing ways for the establishment of an area as a popular gastronomical destination and strategies for the attraction of more visitors.

Among the active supporters of IMIC we also distinguish VOREINA Gallery Suites which is a boutique hotel located in the heart of Santorini island within the traditional settlement of Pyrgos. The word ‘Voreina’ in Greek means Northern and it is essentially the northern orientation of the hotel’s buildings that inspired the hotel’s name. The 9 ultra-modern suites are perched on a hillside which yields panoramic views of the island and of the Aegean Sea.
