The weirdest and scariest hotel in the world

The weirdest and scariest hotel in the world

It is literally hanging from a cliff at the rocky mountain of Grandes Jorasses in the Alps and at an altitude of 3.000 meters…Undoubtedly, we will never be its guest since it addresses the very bold few.

This unique and ultramodern hotel was built at the exact same spot where there used to be just a humble wooden hut since 1948. It was named after the great Italian mountaineer Guisto Gervasutti who was the first to conquer this particularly perilous mountain range between the Italian and the French Alps.

The construction is made out of metal and has a shape of a tube. The bright colour of red was chosen in order to be easy to spot from afar in deadly weather conditions. It can host up to 12 climbers whether to rescue them from the blizzard or due to the fact that they have already made a reservation through the internet for 30 euro per night!

The peculiar hotel is solar – powered and includes an internet connection to give real time information on weather conditions. It includes wooden bunk beds and amazing views over the Fribouze Glacier from the living- room area. There is also a kitchen, a dining room and sufficient storage racks.

Constructing it was indeed a great achievement and a very difficult case, as it is located at a very remote spot at the edge of a terrifying cliff. All the parts of the hotel had to be airlifted into place via helicopters which made several flights. No wonder that its structure cost the Italian Alpine Club the sum of more than 250,000 euro…
