Today we celebrate for tourism on a global scale

The Greek economy relies greatly on the contribution of the tourism industry and this year’s World Tourism Day is dedicated to the protection and the correct management of the water resources.

Celebrations for the special day will be happening across Greece. On Rhodes island in the Dodecanese and in Crete, visitors will have the chance to participate at exhibitions and music events. In Crete in particular, the central message of the events for the day will be the promotion of Cretan culture and the locally sourced products.

The Acropolis Museum will be devoting the day to the celebrations of the World Tourism Day too on Friday September 27 2013, as well as, to the European Days of Cultural Heritage which are going to be celebrated on Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th of September with thematic presentations carried out by the Museum’s archaeologists and concerning the masterpieces of the Museum and the colors of ancient statues.
