Souvenir, folk art and artistic handicraft exhibitions in Athens this January

Starting as of today the 8th of January and up to the 12th of January, the exhibition center Metropolitan Expo at the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” is going to be hosting 3 in 1 exhibitions for those interested in souvenirs, folk art and artistic handicrafts where the most significant exhibitors of the sector will be represented.

The 3 in 1 exhibitions are titled Souvenir Expo Greece 2014 and are representing 412 tourist item companies from across Greece, thus, making this the  leading exhibition of artistic handicraft and limited production objects from the largest folk art and tourist item associations in the country.

According to the financial data for the new year, there are estimations concerning the total revenue for the summer season -from the tourism sector alone- which show an increase by 2 billion euros compared to the year 2013 and equal to a total of 12 billion euros. This data creates optimistic scenarios for tourism and is bound to tone the sector and point to its recovery. The messages coming from foreign tour operators declare that the country will restore its image and that the year 2014 will be the year of Greek tourism.

Based on those positive messages for the upcoming summer season, the designers and importers of the souvenir, folk art and artistic handicraft sector combine forces in order to present to the public and to commercial visitors, tourist items not only from Greece but from other parts of the world too. Visitors will have the opportunity to see and select items ranging from statues, museum replicas, fashion accessories, textiles and embroidery, to jewelry, paintings, ceramics, wood carvings, sea sponges, shells, prayer beads, clothing garments, sunglasses and various other types of artistic handicrafts.

The LAIKI TECHNI - TECHNIMA - PAROUSIES Souvenir Expo Greece 2014 exhibition takes place once annually, it is organised by ROTA Exhibition Organization and constitutes the most interesting winter rendezvous for the sector and an opportunity for entrepreneurs, shop owners and other participants of the tourism item market to exchange experiences and views for the upcoming summer season.
