This short essay records the unseen and defamatory side of tourism and not its known and positive economic, social and psychological aspects. Within its three chapters the reader will sequentially be informed about the delinquent behaviors of tourism, its degenerative social and cultural angles and, finally, the disastrous environmental changes it can cause.
The authors aim at highlighting the aspects of tourism which cause harm…and those which create problems, thus, pinpointing its dark, hideous, offensive and, often repulsive and undignified side and how it can add to the discredited model of economic development. The essay also addresses the successful elimination of the above harm, or even ways of minimizing and limiting them so that global tourism can proceed to its beautiful, radiant, luminous and wonderful course once again.
The particular book is meant to reach the hands of the whole of the “tourist world" meaning the state officials managing the tourist industry, tourism entrepreneurs, the academics and researchers of the field, the specialized journalists in both the print and electronic Media, the people that work in the tourism industry and, of course, all students studying tourism.
This publication constitutes the only of its type in Greek bibliography and due to its concise and categorized content the same could apply as far as the European bibliography is concerned.
