Useful tips for a very stylish and festive Christmas table!

Christmas means something different for each and every one of us. The end of a cycle for some, a new beginning for others and fun mini vacations for the more fortunate among us. If we even get snow, then we are bound to have the best Christmas!

There is nothing more rewarding than a brightly and festively decorated home in which we will welcome our relatives and friends. The Christmas and the New Year table that you will set for your friends and family must present your guests with a special surprise. You could be spending a lot of money for your decorative ideas but bear in mind that there are plenty of simple but impressive ideas that will do you justice as long as you let your creative imagination do the work for you. Here are just a few ideas.

In setting the table for Christmas, the most important thing is to make sure that all your guests are properly seated. Pick the shape of the table, the colours of your decorations, the tablecloth, the napkins and the runners well in advance. Use Christmas ornaments on the table, as well as, Christmas balls in the selected colours which you can place in the plates. Oranges, pomegranates, chestnuts and pine nuts also constitute splendid ideas to place as a centrepiece. Tie red ribbon around the back of each chair into an impressive bow too. You can also use the ornaments which you did not use up on the Christmas tree (balls, angels etc) to add to the table decorations.

Use fabric napkins preferably and fold them in an elaborate way. If you don’t have silver napkin rings, create your own napkin rings out of paper in gold, silver or red color to make a statement. Visit the website http://www.napkinfoldingguide.com/ in order to get even more ideas.

Buy some mistletoe from your local florist and place it as a centerpiece on your table and at various corners of the dining or living room. Mistletoe is the most favourite decoration for Christmas but you can also opt for red and white roses in beautiful bouquets or dried flowers of the season.

You can also add as many candles as possible to your whole setting. Candles can totally transform the atmosphere of your house and give an extra festive note to your event.

Use your best cutlery and dishware for the occasion! Even if you don’t have an elaborate set of all, make sure that there are sufficient plates and correctly sized for each course and, of course, enough glasses if you are going to be serving more than one kind of drink.

Select how your guests are going to be seated. In order to define who seats where, spray apples with a golden colour or a shade which suits the rest of the decoration, place them in the plates in front of each seat and pin a small card naming the guest on each apple. You can also write a lovely wish to each card so the guests can hold on to them and remember the occasion.

Buy individual Christmas cards and write your personalized wishes on them for every one of your guests or, indeed, buy small lucky charms to give away to all of your guests as a festive little something to remember you with.
