Arcadian land is famous for its rich selection of locally prepared products, some of which derive from biological cultivation. Do try the “pilafa delicious” apples, the Makri cherries and sour cherries, the Teyea area golden potatoes, the chestnuts from Skiritida and Doliana, the garlic from Lithovounia and an endless selection of local cheeses and wines.
Equally interesting is the selection of local dairy products such as the full fat yogurt, the famous yellow cheese “graviera Tripoleos” and “feta” (white cheese). For pasta lovers do try the locally produced “trahana” for a soothing winter soup and dried pasta which you will find in plastic packaging at the local stores around the area.
It goes without saying that here, even meals are prepared and cooked in a different way than in other areas of Greece. Do try lamb on a spit, “kokoretsi” and other meat delicacies which combine meat with intestines and yield mouthwatering titbits...Try also the Arcadian “lagoto”, the various stews, the "mousaka" with minced meat and eggplant and of course the “kayana” which is scrambled egg with corned pork and fresh tomatoes.
